Some of the Dogs that now have Loving New Homes

Jago E.S.S With his new best friend Bob!

Jago is very good with our children and with people/children who are sometimes afraid of dogs as he doesn’t typically jump on them and will play for hours chasing balls which keeps Jago and children happy. He doesn’t bother the horses, isn’t too interested in the Chickens and loves going out for walks. Whereas Bob chases the horses, scares the Chickens and sits down in the field when he has walked enough!
Inky

He is such a lovely dog and is adored by his new family. He loves going for a walk and he especially likes his trips to the beach as he loves running along the sand after the ball. He has now made friends with the chickens and still loves chasing the cat in his spare time!!!!

Bracken

Bracken is the perfect companion. From the moment we brought him home he has been the prefect gentleman, who seems to have trained both us and visiting family to cater for his every whim. His Spaniel eyes looking wistfully up ensure that you always find the energy to go out for that game with a ball. We now  sport lovely suntans and feel fitter and healthier since his arrival, with the added bonus of a well trained and gorgeous dog who gives the best cuddles (and if your aren't quick enough - sloppy kisses!). I cannot thank everyone enough for giving us the most wonderful dog we have ever owned, not only is Bracken happy and healthy he is keeping us that way too. Thank you!

Monty

Just an update to let you know how Monty is getting on. To put it simply - brilliantly!

He is just a wonderful fun dog - very well behaved in the home and daft as a brush once outside of it. I am convinced he is half labrador half hippo because of his fondness of wallowing in the mud. It is impossible to take him out for a walk without someone stopping you and admiring him. When we go on holiday we have endless volunteer's offering to mind him.

He is now an irreplaceable member of the family - we cant imagine life without him. I swear he smiles and laughs. He is still fit and well and happy. And chasing a ball about everywhere he goes. He is ace.

Joey

Joey has been great, he really settled now and seems very happy and we love him to bits and he's a very special part of our family. He has been a really good boy. 99% of the time he is a lovely, calm, well behaved boy who loves everyone and really enjoys being part of a family, he has been constantly fussed and his tail NEVER stops wagging

About Red Paw Re homing

Red Paw Rescue

Red Paw Re homing is an organisation which Re-homes dogs that are retiring search dogs or sometimes dogs that have not made the grade as a detection dogs. We are not a re-homing centre and we only deal with dogs that we have taken into our establishment to train to be detection dogs. Therefore the dogs that we often have available are dogs such as Labradors, Springer, and German Sheppard’s or cross breeds of these types of dogs.

Search dogs usually retire from work from 8 to 10 years of age and on some occasions their handlers take them on. However, in some occasions the handlers are unable to take the dog on and therefore we have to find suitable loving homes for them.

Sadly, sometimes dogs don't make the grade to become a search dog. Once withdrawn from the training programme, they are assessed for their suitability in the home environment. Although the dogs have not made it as search dogs this does not mean they will not make wonderful pets. Although they failed to make the grade from either a health, behaviour or temperament reason the majority of these dogs that need homes are lovely dogs that are just looking for that loving home.

Please note that there can sometimes be a waiting lists for some dogs and sometimes the dogs we re home need specific homing with experience handlers. Therefore we have the right to refuse people a dog if we feel they are unsuitable for a particular dog. Some of the dogs we re-home have never been a pet dog so they will need house training and some basic training.

All dogs that we re-home are vaccinated, micro-chipped, and checked by our vet before being re-homed and each owner is given full details on their behaviour and offer any necessary advice needed. Red Paw is always available to offer advice and help if any issues arise with the dog.

We have had great success in re-homing many dogs that have failed to make the grade as search dogs. So please read the many happy stories available.

We’ll ask for an adoption fee when we re-home a dog this helps towards the cost of the animal’s care during their stay with us.

How our Re-homing Works at Red Paw

How our Re-homing Works at Red Paw

1. Re-homing questions
Tell us about yourself. From this form we are able to match the best dog for your lifestyle. Please contact us on redpaw@live.co.uk for the re-homing forms and terms and conditions of our re-homing process.

2. Talk to staff.
We'll help match you with the best dog for your lifestyle. You can also check our blog to see what dogs that available for re-homing. We have the right to refuse people a dog if we feel they are unsuitable for a particular dog.

3. Home visit or vet reference.
We visit you to make sure that your home and garden are suitable for the dog. Secure gardens are really important as some dogs can be real escape artists! On some occasions when people live a significant distance from our establishment we ask for a vet reference and photographical evidence of your garden.

4. View the dog.
Once we feel happy that we think you could be suitable we invite you up to assess if you would be suitable for the dog and for you to get to know the dog. If you have a dog already, we will also need to arrange a meeting between the dogs, too. If we are happy and we believe you are the suitable for the dog we will then arrange a suitable date for you to re-home him/her. We have the right to refuse people a dog if we feel they are unsuitable for a particular dog.

5. Re-homing & Pre-adoption talk.
We discuss how to make your new dog welcome in your home. We will also talk about the benefits of crate training when you initially take the dog on. All our dogs are vet checked and fully vaccinated microchip and update with worm and flea treatment.

6. Advice & support.
We are here to give you the benefit of our experience. If you need any advice about your dog, please contact us and we can discuss any issues you may have.
